It's more like consumables should help you doing an area "faster", not help you doing an area otherwise you couldn't do.
We could divide ToA groups in two types
Right party : "I do fow/uw in 1hour with cons, 1 hour and 15-20 minutes without "
Wrong party: "I do fow/uw in 15 minutes, can't do it without cons".
ToA hosted only the second type of group, on top of that 80% of them failed .

I think you lot should have waited longer for people to start QQ-ing over this a little more before stating the obvious truth that this is an overdue nerf to somthing that quite simply should not have been in the game. It would have made my lunch time reading even better.

I for one understand the people that complain.

I rearly log in myself, but I think ANet designers fail to understand a basic thing of the human psychology. People play a game to own it and then after they discovered the recipe to do so, they expect (naturally like with any recipe) to be able to apply it now, later and tell it to friends and they will learn it as well and they will apply it successfully as well and so on.

I really love that GW was based around a recipe: making your own build and armor template.

However if you come back to GW after a 6 months break nothing really works quite the same and you have to start the entire process of learning and experimenting all over again. Wiki sites get outdated faster then you blink, etc etc.

ANet tries to compensate for the lack of new interesting content (which is what they should actually provide) with never ending nerfs that cause pain to people used to a certain recipe working in a certain area and cause frustration to people that were just finding out about it and trying out and learning how do apply that recipe. Like the poster saying he was studying the videos to figure how to do it himself.

So after too many of those recipes being broken, people just get fed up and give up. Look at DoA. How long was it since the nerf? How many "recipes" to clear that area have shown up since? None really. All ppl just left.

So my 2 cents for ANet: just provide more content and stop breaking the recipes people use to play. Not only that is a pain to follow/understand the skill system of hundreds of skills, but it is almost impossible to keep up with it as it changes every month. And people grow tired.

Being able to clear UW in 15 minutes was retarded anyway. Get over it. They still do something so who cares.

Speak for yourself. For me, ongoing changes are one of the best things in GW. I would love if they made something like "weekly random skill updates" (not much different as we have now, just much more frequent :P).

Anyways... Update was OK, but nothing spectacular. Cons should to be nerfed a long time ago, along with bunch of other stuff. Well, better late then never.

I reckon Anet are sick and tired of handling peoples' grievances relating to UW SC teams where people kill the reapers, leech drops, steal drops, go afk and refuse to pay for cons - to name a few.

It's kinda bittersweet for Anet though because people are finally doing co-operative stuff like they intended but it's causing so much animosity at the same time.

I wish I knew a solution.

So now you can't clear an elite area in hard mode within 15 minutes or less anymore?
Good riddance I'd say...

However UW did seem to be one of very few parts of the game where people actually, and actively, played together. Annihilating that part of the game, might not have been the best move they could make.

Ah well, it doesn't effect me much. Ignorance is bliss :P

Hmm 4 pages of retarded-ness a nerf to essence shouldnt of changed anything

33+25=50%

33+20=50%

Recharge cap is 50%

There is something more fishing going on becuz that 5% shouldnt change the cap has always been 50%

Perma sins arent dead. They didnt need EoC to maintain SF. Even eles can still do it, just have to add in Glyph of swiftness, or use a slice of pumpkin pie

this. people really need to learn how to play the game the right way, so this is where you would start. ive hated consumables from the start (only good one being perf salvage for armor rune swaps and such)

Multiple recharge effects multiply together instead of adding, just like blocking. Recharge cap comes after all of that.

1 * 2/3 * 3/4 = .5 : 50% recharge reduction
1 * 2/3 * 4/5 = .53 : 47% recharge reduction

The 5% loss = 1 sec which u can make up with a candy corn, was thinking this might be the trick part of trick or treat

UW/FoW SC - this is not team play ? it is genius thing, ppl make build team to Clean UW in 15min and its not easy way!!

Urgoz/Deep - genius in 30-40 min
DoA - Genius in 1h

Nerf ursans, SF, CoP, SY and what next ?

Does Elite Areas is maken to been there 2h? that is sick,sick to play 2h and get nothing from chest or better fail!

I understand nerf these SF solo farms, but not UW SC.

Someone talk , now next nerf Paragons ?
who play with paragon mainly ? This is last profesion wich ppl play .. Why them nerf ?
Why nerf the CoP ? to kill mesmers in game ? ok realy easy just doit

Edit: kept testing and there must have been something wrong with the first time I did this - the reductions are multiplied not added. I don't know why I was able to maintain during the first test but I must have missed something

In any case, no, it is no longer possible for an ele with a con set to maintain SF with DP/SF alone.

So, with a con set (which E/A used anyway)....

Basically you can either choose to be A/E in which case you can maintain SF with DP alone. So you can add one more damage skill in place of GoS

or you can choose to be E/A and take GoS along with DP and SF. But, as an ele you can use runes to boost your ele attributes and increase damage.

I think the trade off between those two is fair.

However, any other profs such as N/A will suffer since they will be forced to take candy corn in addition to the conset to boost their SA to 14 to maintain SF.

And that does not seem fair to me.

Course the tot bags are dropping again and falling like crazy at the moment so maybe we will get enough candy corn to make up the difference

I'm quite pleased to know ANet are changing things that made elite areas incredibly easy. They're still incredibly easy, but this is a start.

Keep up the good work, ANet. Next up, nerfing shadow form?

Actually you can finish Deep in 17 min and there are builds for DOA going under one hour already.

@OP. I think it was a good step and in the right direction. This step was a bit too small though.

Well I'm not gonna argue about the recharge cap. But with the 5% reduction of celerity it does increase the recharge by 1 sec. Which does not allow you to perma SF with an Ele. The celerity never replaced DP, it replaced GoS. But you can counter it with a Candy Corn.
